Apcor DVD01 – JULY AUGUST 1969
February 2020 – The former editor (along with Joyce Kilbane) of that superb USA Beatles Fan Magazine, With A Little Help From My Friends, Patricia Simmons, went on holiday with two friends in the Summer of 1969, visiting among others the EMI Studios at Abbey Road, George Harrison at his Kinfauns home, the city of Liverpool as well as George’s parents in Warrington and filming the proceedings using an 8 mm camera. A very small portion of this footage was shared with some of her friends decades ago, but never before has the complete footage been seen, UNTIL NOW! Patricia was so kind to grant Apcor the rights to release all this unique material on a DVD, for which we are eternally grateful. Nearly 50 minutes of footage has been sourced from the original 8 mm reels, painstakingly restored and put in a chronological order. Sound effects and music (including a never before released track by an Apple act!) were added to the silent footage. The unique footage contains the last ever fan-filmed material of The Beatles operating as a group, arriving at EMI Studios. There is a large section featuring the girls visiting George Harrison at his home, seen patiently signing a bunch of autographs. There is footage of some famous Beatles landmarks in Liverpool (the Cavern, Liverpool Institute) and of George’s parents, Louise and Harold at their home. For the very first time since it was filmed 51 years ago, this footage becomes available in the best possible quality! The DVD, named July August 1969 London Esher Liverpool, is housed in a hardcover digipack with a 43-page essay by Patricia reminiscing about this trip, spiced up with never before seen unique photos in B&W and full colour. A bonus postcard, individually numbered and autographed by Patricia Simmons is supplied with each copy. The (PAL) DVD is region-free and should play problem-free in any modern DVD player. A free copy of this DVD is being supplied with the book A Is For Apple Volume 3 (see book section). Individual copies of the DVD July August 1969 London Esher Liverpool, including the individually numbered autographed card and housed in a digipack with a 43-page booklet have been made available for separate purchase.
